Miraculous Invocation to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus

Miraculous Invocation to Saint Theresa

O Glorious Saint Theresa, whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. So powerful are you in obtaining every need of body and soul that our Holy Mother Church proclaims you  “prodigy of Miracles…the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.”

Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention here) and to carry out your promise of spending Heaven doing good upon earth…of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Henceforth, dear Little Flower, I will fulfill your plea “to be made known everywhere” and I will never cease to lead others to Jesus through you.  Amen.

The day I met my Lolo (who rather wants to be called tatay)

When I turned 25 this year, I was really hoping and praying that I would meet my maternal Lolo. Growing up as a child, I never thought that the one I knew as "Papang" was not my maternal lolo. Not that Papang did not loved us as his own grandchildren, but when I realized that I have a different middle name from that of my cousins and I understood that I have a different lolo from them, I really longed for the day that I would meet my Lolo.

It was 2010 that I got a chance to see my mom's paternal sisters over Facebook. I added them as friend and introduced who I am. I was so excited that I was already planning to go to Cagayan de Oro December of that year, canvassing plane fare and all. Little did I know that God has really a plan.

July of this year, cfC-GK Misamis Oriental will celebrate it's anniversary, and they have invited members from other provinces...and lucky enough, my parents are part of the delegation plus they got to bring me with them. And God is truly amazing. The day we stepped CDO, I was so excited because I knew I will be seeing my Lolo, though at that time it was uncertain still.

During our first night, we only got to meet my mom's sister, lolo is out of town that time, but she assured us she would find a way for us to meet Lolo. And the following morning she sent a message to my mom to meet at 10am, she will have with her Lolo...wow...I am still shocked...I have mixed emotions--the longing, the excitement, even apprehension.

And finally, I got to meet my Lolo--but, he rather wished to be addressed as Tatay...I know that it is JOY that I feel when I got to hold his hand and to embrace and kiss him. And I am more happy for my mother whom for more than 30years was away from him and was not able to communicate with them. They were able to patch up what was misunderstood that time.

Tatay and Mama

I know this is the happiest moment for my mother, and it is as well for me. I always have wanted to at least make my mother happy, after all the sacrifices she made for me and my brother. Lolo, or shall I say Tatay, stayed with us till way past 3pm, that span of time just talking and being with him is immeasurable, i could not even put words to how I feel during that time. But before we parted, I only have said what i really wanted to say to tatay, "Dugay na gid nakon gihandom na makita ka tay."

Mama, Papa and Me with Tatay

And this is the day I met my Lolo for the first time, hopefully by next year, I will be able to bring my brother to CDO as well for him to meet our Lolo.

Lolo and Me before they brought us back to our hotel.

Nursing Review Questions #3

Q : An anxious client enters the emergency room seeking treatment for a laceration of the finger that occurred when using a power tool. The client’s vital signs are pulse 96 beats per minute, blood pressure (BP) 148/88 mmHg, and respirations 24 breaths per minute. After cleansing the injury and reassuring the client, the nurse rechecks the vital signs and notes a pulse of 82 beats per minute, BP 130/80 mmHg, and respirations 20 breaths per minute. The nurse determines that the change in vital signs is caused by:

1. Reduced stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system.

2. The cooling effects of the cleansing solution.

3. The body’s physical adaptation to the air conditioning.

4. Possible impending cardiovascular collapse.

Nursing Review Questions #2

Q : Kathryn, a 16-year-old young woman, approaches a nurse and discloses that she is pregnant. Kathryn asks the nurse how she can obtain a therapeutic abortion. The nurse responds by stating, “You can’t do that. It is immoral, and you will regret that decision for the rest of your life.” The nurse is demonstrating which the following?

1.Client-focused care.

2.Leadership.

3.Abuse.

4.Advocacy.

Answer: 3

rationale: The nurse should be client focused and act as an advocate for the client. An effective nurse is often a leader, but in this case, she has put her own biases before the needs of the client and may influence the client’s decisions. This is considered abuse.

Nursing Review Questions #1

This week's question :
Q : The doctor orders a medication for which the patient is allergic. The nurse places a call to the physician, but the call is not returned before the first dose is due. Which of the following is the appropriate next step the nurse should take in this situation?

1. Notify the nursing supervisor of the situation.

2. Give the medication as ordered by the doctor.

3. Hold the medication and wait to speak to the physician.

4.
Call the pharmacist and discuss the patient’s allergies.
Answer: 1

Rationale:
The nurse should notify the supervisor of the situation. The patient should not be disadvantaged by the fact that he or she is not receiving medication that is needed. The physician has not returned the nurse’s telephone call, and the supervisor needs to assist and support the nurse. Failing to give the medication or giving a medication to which the patient is allergic would be a medication error. By notifying the supervisor, the nurse will be supported in the decision not to administer the medication.

8 Foods that Fight Stress

8 Foods that Fight Stress

Chow down on eats that tame hunger and reduce anxiety
Eat It to Beat It
We all know that tension can wreak havoc on our eating patterns. But the right (healthy!) foods can often help tame mindless munching and cravings and, better yet, actually lower overall anxiety and its symptoms. Eight of our favorites:
Dark Chocolate
High in flavonoids, which are lauded for their relaxing properties (chamomiletea is another great source), chocolate also contains phenethylamine, a chemical that enhances your mood. The darker the chocolate, the more healthy substances you're getting in your diet, so look for bars that are 70 percent cacao or higher.
Skim Milk
Turns out that a glass of warm milk really is calming. One study found that women who drank four or more servings of lowfat or skim milk every day were about half as likely to experience stress-related PMS symptoms than those who drank less than one serving a week.
 Oatmeal
Carbs help you produce serotonin, a calming hormone that helps fight anxiety's negative effects-which is probably why many of us crave them when we're stressed. Go with the craving and choose healthy sources. Oatmeal is high in fiber, which means that your body will absorb it slowly. In one fell swoop, you'll prolong the serotonin boost, keeping yourself feeling full for longer (and on less) and making sure your blood sugar's in check.

Salmon
Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids-abundant in fish like salmon-can help reverse stress symptoms by boosting serotonin levels, and that an omega-3-rich diet can also help suppress the production of the anxiety hormones cortisol and adrenaline.
Walnuts
They've been shown to help lower blood pressure, which is critical for those whose hearts are already working overtime thanks to high adrenaline levels. In fact, research so strongly backs their health benefits that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration goes so far as to recommend 1 1/2 oz per day.
Sunflower Seeds
A good source of folate, which helps your body produce a pleasure-inducing brain chemical called dopamine.
Spinach
Studies show that magnesium, which you'll find in leafy greens like spinach, improves your body's response to stress.
Blueberries
Their antioxidants counteract the effects of stress hormones like cortisol on your body.
